Pterostilbene  is a naturally occurring compound from the stilbene group. It is similar in structure and effect to resveratrol, though it has 2 methoxy groups in place of the hydroxyl group- because of this, pterostilbene is more biologically active (easier to absorb).

Pterostilbene occurs naturally in berries, blueberries, and grape plants. It is a very promising compound, despite it being studied much less than resveratrol.

There is a lot of evidence suggesting that pterostilbene not only has great therapeutic potential in the case of many neurological, cardiovascular, neoplasmic, metabolic (diabetes), and hematologic diseases, but may also help in preventing them from occuring.2,3

Effective antioxidant

Pterostilbene reducses oxidative stress caused by free oxygen radicals which damage cell tissue and play an important role in the pathogenesis of many diseases. Pterostilbene increases the expression of very important antioxidant enzymes - catalase, glutathione (GSH), glutathione peroxidase (GPx), glutathione reductase (GR) and superoxide dismutase (SOD).2 These enzymes generate an integrated antioxidant protection system for the body and allow it to maintain a stable balance.

Protective effects

Due to its high antioxidant effects, pterostilbene has a neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory effect. Studies suggest that pterostilbene can decrease the negative effects of injuries and strokes, and may be beneficial for the elderly. Above all, pterostilbene can have improve cognitive and mental functions and can slow down the progression of various neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's. Additional clinical studies are necessary on the effects of pterostilbene on individuals with neurodegenerative injuries, strokes, and other forms of severe dementia.2

Pterostilbene has a positive effect on the cardiovascular system, reduces the risk of heart attack, has an antiatherogenic effect- reducing the amount of “bad” cholesterol LDL and increasing the amount of “good” cholesterol HDL.5

Memory and concentration

Many studies confirm the positive effect of pterostilbene on cognitive functions. It was shown that administering pterostilbene to old rats significantly improved their performance in motor and cognitive tasks- this effect was dose dependent. Moreover, an increased concentration of pterostilbene in the hippocampus correlated positively with improved test results in working memory tasks. Research suggests that pterostilbene may be involved in the modulation of neuronal plasticity.2

Other characteristics

Pterostilbene shows to have a significant anti-neoplasmic effect- especially regarding breast, esophagus, stomach, colon, liver, pancreas, and prostate cancer, which comprises a lower rate of proliferation, induction of apoptosis, changes in cell cycle and inhibition of metastases.2,3,7,8

Pterostilbene has an analgesic effect,5 and can also lower blood sugar levels.

Dosage

Pterostilbene is a compound that is relatively safe for humans. Doses of 250 mg/day (divided into 2 portions of 125 mg) were used in toxicological studies.6

Some studies used doses of 200-400 mg.

Interesting facts

People that eat large amounts of berries and blueberries have a lower risk of cancer, degenerative diseases, diabetes, and heart disease.

RELIABLE INFORMATION

Our website contains objective and reliable information based on current scientific publications. We care about maintaining a high level of quality standards in the articles we publish by keeping our site up-to-date and making sure the information we place on it is clear and transparent. The authors of the website content are scientists from UJ, a neuropsychologist and a chemist.

PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE

At Allchemy.eu, professionalism is of our utmost interest. Our team consists of a neuropsychologist, a pharmacist, a chemist, a psychologist, and a physicist. We don't just “do business.” This is our passion and we test all available chemical agents on ourselves, selecting the most interesting ones while discarding those that we deem dangerous or harmful.

INSTANT SHIPPING

Do you value time and comfort? We ship our packages through DPD courier, Polish Post Office, and Inpost post boxes- every day! Orders made before 10 AM are shipped on the same day!

HASSLE-FREE RETURNS

We care about your satisfaction. That is why you can always return an originally sealed product within 30 days of purchase, no reason necessary.

LABORATORY QUALITY TESTING

The products found in our catalog come from tested and trusted sources, are certified, and undergo laboratory analyses- i.e HPLC, GC, TLC; 1 H NMR spectroscopy, IR, AAS, and the physiochemical parameters -temperature melting point, pH, humidity.

VACCUUM PACKAGING

Vaccuum packaging protects our chemical agents from the effects of oxygen and air moisture. Oxygen is a very reactive compound that causes the oxidation and breakdown of certain compounds, while water facilitates the development of bacteria and processes of hydrolysis. Thanks to the vaccuum packaging of sensitive compounds, our clients receive top quality products that can also be kept for later use. Nevertheless, it is important to remember to tightly reseal the packaging by removing any air from the bag and precisely closing the seal. This will pay off!
